Acupuncture for Colds and Immunity
I’m sure most would agree that no one wants to lose their valuable time to a nasty cold. While there are no magical cures for the common cold, there ARE options to sidestep or vastly reduce symptoms and duration. Acupuncture can significantly improve colds and boost immunity!
How Can We Use Acupuncture?
1. PREVENTATIVE:
Already know that you catch colds frequently? Acupuncture treatments before ‘problematic’ seasons will strengthen your immune system. HOW?
- CHINESE MEDICINE says strengthen Wei (protective) qi and lung function and move pathogens out before they go deeper into the body.
- WESTERN RESEARCH shows greater activation and enhancement of immune chemicals, cells, and function (T cells, natural killer cells, macrophages, etc.) for days post-treatment and beyond. THE MECHANISM OF ACUPUNCTURE
2. KNOCK IT OUT EARLY
Getting in as soon as you detect that “I might be getting sick” feeling can turn a 7-14 day deep cold into a quick 1-3 day turnaround with acupuncture, cupping, and/or herbal medicine.
3. I WAITED TOO LONG:
Although deeper and more difficult in the later stages of colds, acupuncture and herbs can still help clear up symptoms that insist on sticking around. Insert *cough, hack, drip, sneeze, I’m so tired* here. Cupping over the lungs alone can help physically move stagnant fluids, and stimulate the loosening and expectoration of phlegm. Acupuncture can strongly boost immune cell function, diminish fatigue, move phlegm, and suppress a cough as well. Typically, cupping and acupuncture are both utilized during your sessions.
STAY IN THE GAME. IF YOU FEEL IT, GET AHEAD OF IT.
