What Your Treatment Would Look Like
Acupuncture treatments support those who are just beginning to family plan as well as those who have a history of infertility or miscarriage. We generally recommend starting with three months of weekly or bi-weekly treatment, after which we will evaluate our progress and revise our treatment plan as needed.
Not only are we regulating hormones and boosting fertility, acupuncture also stimulates the body to repair and regenerate tissues and blood cells. By doing so, treatments help:
- tone the uterus,
- bring circulation to the reproductive organs, and
- build a flourishing uterine lining.
Getting pregnant is great, but a healthy pregnancy is the ultimate goal!
Your acupuncture treatment may include moxibustion and cupping therapy and, if applicable, we will prescribe herbal formulas to enhance your treatment. Our approach integrates both Western and Chinese Medicine, and we are happy to collaborate with whoever you already have on your wellness team.
Acupuncture is very safe during pregnancy. Regular treatments in the first trimester are highly recommended to support early implantation and development. Once pregnant we generally move to a once-a-month treatment schedule (especially at the beginning of trimesters) to facilitate a smooth pregnancy. We may, however, opt for more if you are encountering symptoms such as fatigue, nausea, headaches, body pain, carpal tunnel, insomnia, or other issues unique to you.
Regular Acupuncture care through pregnancy has been shown to facilitate natural labour induction and promote optimal baby position in preparation for childbirth.
